"WHY DO WE TEST?"
We use data from each assessment students take to see how well our schools have aligned the curriculum and taught students based on the Minnesota Academic Standards. The information we receive from the tests helps us improve teaching and learning. Teachers and administrators look for areas where students do well and need improvement so they can adjust instructional strategies to improve student or school performance. Therefore, testing has helped us bring more focus to student learning
Testing has also become an essential part of the American education landscape. It can open doors for students for scholarships or admission to post-secondary opportunities (ACT, SAT, ASVAB, etc.).
As a parent and/or guardian, please encourage students to do their best, get plenty of rest, and remember testing is just a snapshot of their achievements!
NAEP Test
Our school has been selected to participate in the 2023 National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as NAEP again this year. It is the largest continuing and nationally representative assessment of what students across the country know and can do in a variety of subjects. Some of our 4th and 8th graders have been selected to take math and reading assessments. To those who have been selected for this important test, you have all our support, and I have NO doubt that you will represent us well! More details to follow as we move closer to our school’s assessment day. Thank you in advance for your involvement.
MINNESOTA COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT
*The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) are statewide tests in Reading, Mathematics and Science that are administered every year to measure student performance relative to the Minnesota Academic Standards established for each grade.
