Have you ever wondered how a hen can lay an egg every day? or why eggs are different colors? It takes a hen between 24 and 26 hours to develop an egg. Once she lays an egg, the development of a new egg normally starts within 30 minutes. There are more than 60 breeds of chickens that lay brown, white, green and even blue eggshells which are indicative of the breed of hen. This is part of our after school hobby club. Every week these Lil' Chef's are learning new skills to add to their culinary toolbox. The Summer Rec Brochure will be sent home next week and will have more of these fun camps thanks to Health & Nutrition Programs, SNAP Education and Extension .
